Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments related to tobacco and soybean gene transformation, including but not limited to agrobacterium-mediated transformation.

  • Develop and optimize protocols for transient gene transformation.

  • Develop and optimize protocols for tissue culture, transformation, and regeneration of tobacco and soybean plants.

  • Conduct molecular analyses to validate gene integration, expression, and inheritance in transformed plants.

  • Perform phenotypic evaluations of transgenic plants to assess trait improvement.

  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and data analysis.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists, geneticists, and agronomists.

  • Conduct hands-on plant cultivation, including sowing, growth monitoring, and harvesting

Job requirements

  • B.Sc, M.Sc or higher in Plant Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, related field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in plant transformation techniques, preferably in Tobacco.

  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, cloning, and sequencing, Protein extraction and western blotting.

  • Strong background in tissue culture and plant regeneration protocols.

  • High interest in the development of cost-effective and scalable approaches

  • Aptitude for creative problem solving - thinking out of the box, open to offer new ideas and willing to continuously learn

  • Highly collaborative mindset

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment, both virtual and in-person

  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, written and oral

  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
