n! biomachines,. based in Burlington, is focused on the development and production of bioreactors and advanced machinery for cellular agriculture and precision fermentation. We are looking for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Associate to join our growing team!


Your role

  • Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment
  • Handle necessary interior and exterior repairs and property maintenance
  • Perform cleaning activities as needed
  • Install and maintain equipment and appliances
  • Follow local and provincial building codes
  • Comply with all company safety regulations
  • Keep a maintenance log and write shift reports
  • Report any issues to the VP Operations
  • Respond to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion
  • Load and unload equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from the VP Operations
  • Find, negotiate with and manage 3rd party contractors which includes obtaining pricing/quotes, scheduling and onsite monitoring (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general repairs, etc.)
  • Document repairs and create procedures for basic building maintenance
  • Use equipment, including hand and power tools
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation, electrical panels)
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm, sprinklers, generator)
  • Work closely with Health & Safety Advisor and the team to address safety concerns in the facility
  • Other duties as assigned

Job requirements

  • Handle the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds
  • Proven relevant experience in maintenance and/or facilities roles
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Building Automation System knowledge an asset
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • At least 5 years of building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrician experience is strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a maintenance/facilities program an asset
  • Must have a driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and other experience an asset
  • Criminal record check will be conducted
